Attention, Arrowmen of the Taleka Lodge, Order of the Arrow

The Okaw Valley Council will host three costuming sessions during March and April to help get your costume ready for the summer camping season. Here is the schedule and focus for each of the costuming sessions this spring:

Thursday, March 31, 6:30-8:30 PM
Basic costuming, feather preparation and headdresses

Saturday, April 2, 8:00 AM-12:00 Noon
Breech cloths, aprons, basic leggings and ribbon shirts

Tuesday, April 19, 6:30-8:30 PM
Beadwork: using a loom, lazy stitch, and making rosettes

All of these costuming sessions will be held at the Okaw Valley Council Service Center, 335 West Main, Belleville, IL 62220. If you?ve started a project, bring it with you. If you need to know HOW to get started, we?ll be there to help you.

Finally, we suggest that you get hold of a copy of ?Indian Crafts and Lore? by Ben Hunt; it?s a great resource for costuming! While it is out print it is usually available on E-Bay for around $10.00.

Hope to see you there for these three great sessions.
